Laser Control

Control your lasers from one app — camera-aligned, every machine its own job.

Vextrify Laser Control is a real machine-control workspace, not just a file exporter. Connect over USB or network, let the camera find every workpiece on the bed and place your design on each one, get smart material-based speed and power, and run diode, CO2 and fiber galvo machines live — on macOS, Windows and Linux.

  • ✓Opens LightBurn projects, material libraries and device files
  • ✓Material-based speed & power, saved as recipes
  • ✓Background removal, contours, SVG and photo prep feed the job directly
  • ✓Native on macOS, Windows and Linux

Manage your whole bench, one tab per laser

Every machine gets its own tab with its own connection, profile, camera, calibration, job queue and job — rename them, reopen saved lasers instantly, and switch between them without losing setup. Locks are never global, so one laser's job never blocks another tab.

Most laser software only remembers one machine.

Camera alignment + Artboard precision

A calibrated camera and lens model (ArUco-based) lay a live overlay of your design on the real material, and the Artboard's homography positions it exactly using your own captured alignment — not a generic preset. What you see on the board is where the laser burns — no eyeballing, no guesswork.

Far tighter than test frames or manual jogging alone.

Workpiece detection: a whole bed in one click

Lay your blanks on the bed and click Detect workpieces. Vextrify finds every piece, corrects for the material height, and places your design on all of them — or fits it into each one, turns the pieces into masks you fill in one go, or cuts an outline or a holder around them. Pieces that touch or sit at the edge of the view are flagged, never guessed.

Batches of coasters, tags or slates without placing each one by hand.

Bring your LightBurn work with you

Open LightBurn projects (.lbrn2) with their layers, sub-layers, images and tabs, import material libraries (.clb) and device files (.lbdev). Anything that cannot be carried over is listed in a visible note instead of being dropped silently.

Switch without setting up every machine and material again.

Smart speed & power engine

Tell Vextrify your material and goal; a material-based Smart Engine calculates suggested speed and power for you, always inside your device's safety limits — plus an estimated total job time and pure engrave time before you fire. Dial it in once, save it as a recipe, reuse it forever.

A calculated starting point, not a blank settings box — and never marketed as "AI".

Every tool feeds the laser

Remove a background, extract a clean cut contour, vectorize a logo to SVG, prep a photo for engraving in Photo Studio, build a box in Product Studio — every Vextrify tool hands its result straight into the laser job. One app, no exporting and re-importing between programs.

A connected suite, not a single isolated controller.

Real control — diode, CO2 and fiber

Framing (dry-run), live job control (send, pause, resume, stop), a job queue and live status for GRBL, Marlin, Smoothieware and Snapmaker machines, Ruida, TopWisdom, Trocen and stock K40 CO2 lasers, and SEA-LASER / BSL, JCZ / EZCAD2 and EZCad3 fiber galvo boards — with a job-start origin and 3×3 anchor so you choose exactly where the job begins. Export clean files for LightBurn, EZCAD or Ruida, or save the G-code, when a job belongs elsewhere.

A control surface, not just a file exporter.

A calm, modern workspace

One clear surface keeps connection status, timeline, layers and the artboard in view at the same time. A full production job reads at a glance instead of hiding behind menus.

Built for overview under production pressure.

macOS, Windows and Linux

Vextrify Laser Control runs as a native desktop app on macOS, Windows and Linux (Ubuntu 24.04 / Debian 13 or newer) — including the Mac workflows where popular free tools like LaserGRBL are Windows only, and Linux, where LightBurn's last version is 1.7.

No platform left behind.

Everything in Laser Control

Laser Control is not one screen — it's sixteen real capability groups working together, from connecting a machine to engraving the final part. Every item below is a shipped function, not a roadmap promise.

Connect & auto-connect

Get from USB cable to ready-to-fire in one click.

  • One-click connect to the detected port
  • Auto-connect on plug-in — the tab opens itself and the profile loads
  • Manual port selection
  • Re-scan for ports
  • Disconnect

Manage multiple lasers

Every machine gets its own tab, its own setup, and never blocks another.

  • One tab per machine with its own connection, profile, calibration and job
  • Job queue per laser
  • Rename tabs
  • Open saved lasers instantly
  • Per-laser locking — one tab never blocks another

Camera & alignment

See the design on the real material before you ever fire.

  • Live camera overlay on the real material

Laser Control FAQ

Can Vextrify control more than one laser?

Yes. You can manage several machines from one PC and one license — each laser gets its own tab with its own connection, profile, calibration, queue and job, and one tab's lock never blocks another. Firing several lasers simultaneously is on our roadmap.

Does Vextrify Laser Control work on a Mac?

Yes. It runs as a native desktop app on macOS, Windows and Linux, so Mac users get full machine control — unlike popular free tools such as LaserGRBL, which are Windows-only.

Does Vextrify run on Linux?

Yes. The desktop app runs on Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 13 or newer (.deb for amd64 and arm64, AppImage for arm64) with the same laser control as on macOS and Windows. The installer sets up USB access for supported lasers.

Can I import my LightBurn files?

Yes. Vextrify opens LightBurn projects (.lbrn2) and imports material libraries (.clb) and device files (.lbdev). Anything it cannot carry over is shown in a visible note.

Can the camera find my workpieces?

Yes. After aligning the camera, one click on Detect workpieces finds every piece on the bed. You can then place the design on all pieces, fit it into each one, use them as masks, or cut an outline or a holder around them.

Which lasers are supported?

Diode lasers with GRBL over USB or network (xTool D1, D1 Pro and S1, Sculpfun, Ortur, Atomstack, Twotrees), Marlin, Smoothieware and Snapmaker 2.0 / Artisan machines, CO2 lasers with Ruida, TopWisdom or Trocen / AWC controllers, stock K40s with the M2 Nano board, and fiber galvo lasers with SEA-LASER / BSL (e.g. Leapion LM-30S), JCZ / EZCAD2 or EZCad3 boards — with framing and live job control. You can also export clean files for LightBurn, EZCAD or Ruida when a job belongs in another tool.

How does Vextrify know the right speed and power?

A material-based Smart Engine calculates suggested speed and power for your material and goal, always within your device's safety limits, and shows an estimated total and engrave time before you fire. It's a calculation, not "AI" — and you can save the result as a reusable recipe.

How accurate is placement on the material?

A calibrated camera and lens model (ArUco-based) overlay your design on the real material, and the Artboard's homography — captured from your own setup — positions it exactly, so what you see is where it burns.

What's included in the full editor?

Selection, node editing, line, rectangle, ellipse, text, image, SVG, QR, barcode and measure tools, plus boolean operations, offset/cut-line, offset fill, linked array, tabs/bridges, dogbone corners, nesting, and align & distribute — a real design surface built around the laser job.
