AI Studio

The Vextrify Vision Engine turns photos and sketches into laser-ready source images.

AI Studio uses the Vextrify Vision Engine to turn an uploaded photo or motif into a clean, clearly recognizable source image — either freely guided by your own description or with a preset direction like caricature, clipart, comic, illustration, or engraving look. Important: the Vision Engine does not engrave and does not hard-binarize to black and white — it produces a tonally shaded, engravable source image. The actual dithering for the laser happens afterwards in Photo Studio. Hand the result straight off to Photo Studio, the Artboard, or back to the laser.

Load a motif

Every transformation starts from your own image.

Load motif: Opens the file picker and loads a photo or sketch as the source image.
Original preview: Shows the uploaded image cropped to the currently selected output size and canvas area.

Choose a direction or describe freely

You can describe what you want freely, with no preset at all, or pick a preset style direction — the two can also be combined.

Direction (Caricature, Clipart, Comic, Engraving Look, Illustration, Laser Template): Sets a predefined image style as the basis for the transformation. Clicking it again clears the selection.
Without selection: Clears the chosen direction — the Vision Engine then follows only your own description.
Your instruction: Free-text field where you describe in your own words what should change in the image — e.g. less background, stronger contours, friendlier expression.Character count is limited; a counter shows the characters remaining.

Output size & format

Output size and aspect ratio are fixed presets controlled by Vextrify — they protect image quality and cannot be overridden by your own description.

Output size (dropdown, e.g. Standard, HD): Selects a fixed pixel size for the result. Each size shows the required credits directly.
Format (Square, Landscape, Portrait, Wide, Vertical): Sets the aspect ratio of the output. The resulting pixel dimensions are shown right next to it.
Canvas area · Fill area / Preserve motif: Determines how the original image is fit into the target area: cropped edge-to-edge, or shown in full with margins.

Fine control

Additional, combinable controls that determine how clear, reduced, or detailed the template becomes.

Sharper lines: Prioritizes stronger, clearly defined contours and shape edges.
Calm background: Reduces unimportant background areas so the main subject stands out more.
Cleaner surfaces: Reduces micro-noise and builds larger shapes more deliberately.
Preserve face: Protects identity, facial structure, and expression more strongly for portraits.
Less detail: Simplifies the motif for small laser areas where fine details would be lost anyway.
More structure: Increases value separation between subject and background for a clearer contrast hierarchy.

Credits & usage

Every transformation uses Creative Credits from your monthly allowance.

Creative credits display: Shows remaining and total credits as a ring, plus the estimated cost of the currently selected settings.
Notice banner (limit reached / upgrade required): Appears when the daily, weekly, or monthly credit allowance is reached, or when your plan does not include AI Studio — with a link to upgrade.

Preview and generate

Prepare preview: Checks the current selection against your credit balance and shows the estimated cost and final pixel size, without starting a transformation yet.
Create laser template: Starts the actual transformation through the Vision Engine. The result appears in the right-hand preview panel once it's ready.
Status line: Continuously shows the current operation — e.g. image prepared, job running, result loaded, or an error message.

Result & hand-off

The finished source image can be sent straight to the next step in your workflow.

To the laser / Back to laser: Hands the result off to Laser Control — as a new object, or, if launched from the laser, as a replacement for the original image.
PNG: Downloads the result as a PNG file to your device.
Photo Studio: Opens a new project in Photo Studio with the AI result as the source image — the right next step for the actual engraving dither.
Artboard: Inserts the result as an image object into the active Artboard project.

Recent AI jobs

A local history of recently generated results on this device.

Refresh status: Re-checks the current status of all running jobs.
Check: Checks the status of a single job.
Load: Loads that job's saved result back into the result preview.
Delete: Removes a single job from the local history.
Clear: Clears the entire local job history on this device.

Common mistakes & fixes

Result looks too hard-edged or binarized for the planned engraving.

Fix: That's expected — the Vision Engine produces a tonally shaded image, not a finished black-and-white engraving file. Send the result on to Photo Studio and set tone and dithering there to match your material.

Motif has too much fine detail for the planned engraving area.

Fix: Enable the "Less detail" fine control and regenerate. Small engraving areas tolerate less fine structure than large ones.

Generate button stays disabled or a notice banner appears.

Fix: AI Studio is included in Studio Pro and Lifetime Pro. Check the notice banner to see whether your plan includes the tool, or whether your monthly, weekly, or daily credit allowance is used up.

Result doesn't match the description closely enough.

Fix: Make the instruction more specific and concise — e.g. "less background, stronger contours" instead of vague terms. Combining a preset direction with your own description gives the Vision Engine a clearer basis to work from.

Source image from the laser hand-off failed to load.

Fix: The image was likely too large for direct hand-off. Upload the motif manually instead, using "Load motif".

Prepare preview shows a different credit cost than expected.

Fix: Size, format, and active fine controls all affect credit cost. Check the figure next to the selected output size before generating.

Not obvious

The Vision Engine prepares, Photo Studio finishes for the laser: for the best engraving results, run every AI result through Photo Studio before sending it to the laser.
The output size is intentionally fixed — this protects image quality. Your own description cannot override this size, no matter how it's worded.
A direction and your own description aren't mutually exclusive: a preset like "Engraving Look" plus a short custom instruction often gives the most accurate result.
For motifs with a removed background, it's worth combining this with the Background Remover tool before uploading — that gives the Vision Engine a cleaner source image.
The "Laser Template" direction is deliberately restrained — it simplifies the motif without imposing a particular artistic style, making it a good neutral step before Photo Studio.
Recent results are only stored locally on this device. Download important results as PNG, or send them straight to Photo Studio or the Artboard, if you want to keep them long-term.
